You Have Seen Them All Over – What Are They?
They have been popping up on telephone poles in the area for the past several years, but what is the purpose of those yellow grids that have become so ubiquitous in the area?
The answer is quite simple – they are reflective grids that are being installed by PECO with the intent of avoiding drivers from crashing into telephone polls.
Since 2007, PECO has been installing the reflective grids as poles are inspected, approximately every 10 years.
Currently over half of PECO’s 400,000 poles have them so far.
The bigger question is does this little grid have the ability to avoid accidents by drivers who are driving impaired or fall asleep at the wheel? Why else would someone hit a pole?
