St John - Among The 45 Grade Schools Closing
The Philadelphia Archdiocese announced Friday that due to dwindling enrollment, 45 grade schools will be closing at the end of the school year. Sadly St John Chrysostom in Wallingford is included in that list.
St John has been serving the local community since it’s establishment in 1957. St John students will be merging with Nativity B.V.M. grade school in Media.
A Blue Ribbon Panel studying the future of Catholic education in the Philadelphia area began it’s study over a year ago, and completed it’s task in December 2011. The Archdiocese announced the recommendations of the panel on Friday.
