According to Barbara Corcoran real estate agent and frequent Real Estate Contributor on NBC’s Today show:
“BUYERS DECIDE WITHIN 8 SECONDS WHETHER THEY ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR HOME.”
Now this may seem like a fanciful claim, but I do not entirely disagree. The body language and and facial expressions of a buyer who are approaching the home they eventually buy is very apparent. The bond between a buyer and a home is initially subliminal and may not register to conscious memory right away, but the association is very real in a very short time.
This reinforces the need for sellers to heed the advice of real estate professionals to boost a home’s curb appeal as much as possible. There is only one chance for a first impression, and that impression is of utmost importance.
The connection between a buyer and a home happens quickly, perhaps not in as little as 8 seconds, but it occurs very quickly. Take a walk in a buyer’s shoes – what do you see in 8 seconds as you approach your home?
