New Home Sales Post First Yearly Gain In 7 Years
Inman News reported last week that new homes sales recorded an annual gain for the first time in 7 years. New home sales were reported at 367,000 units in 2012, according to the Census Bureau, which represents a 19.9% increase from 2011. The positive numbers mask the fact that this number represents the third worst annual home sales number since 1963. The two worst years on record are 2010 and 2011.
Estimates put the number of new homes on the market at the end of December 2012 at 151,000, which represents a 4.9 month supply of new housing. The median sales prices of new homes sold nationwide stood at $248,900 in December 2012, which is a 9.6% increase from a year ago, and 1.3% higher than November.
There are currently 6 new home listed for sale in Nether Providence Township, with an average asking price of $425,717, as of 01/28/13.
