A milestone of the Nether Providence Elementary school’s $16.5 million dollar renovation and expansion was reached on January 29 as a portion of the newly completed addition was opened for use.
The combined cafeteria and gym has opened it’s doors to students to be followed later in February by classrooms in the new wing, and Administrative Offices are scheduled for completion in April. The renovation of the school’s wings that were built in 1949 and 1964 are still to come in addition to the demolition of a wing of the school that dates to 1939.
The project is targeted for completion in October 2014, but this winter’s severe weather could impact that projected date.
The Moore Road facility is the last school to get a facelift in the Wallingford Swarthmore School District’s current renovation cycle.
