Last week for the second time the WSSD School Board voted 6-2 in favor of a $74 million 2015 – 2016 budget proposal that calls for a 2.56% tax hike. The final budget vote and approval is expected at the board’s June 8 meeting.
A property owner with a home assessed at the district average of $179,000 will experience a tax hike of $186 over last year for an average school tax bill of $7,439, if the budget is adopted.
Local real estate tax revenue funds 80% of the district’s budget – slightly over $59 million.
