Gas Line Replacement Work On Cameron Drive

Patches of uprooted lawns are a sign of the gas line replacement project that PECO is currently undertaking in Sproul Estates.

The work includes replacing existing natural gas lines with plastic pipe and relocating any interior gas meters to the exterior of homes. If a gas meter relocation is necessary PECO will require access to your home. You can call 610-757-6767 for questions and scheduling of meter replacement.

The work requires the interruption of gas service for approximately 4 hours. PECO will be working in the neighborhood for the next several weeks and within 60 days of completion of the project will permanently restore the disturbed ground and repave strrets where necessary.

Access Road Being Built Off Rodgers Lane In Wallingford

The project to replace the 120 year old SEPTA regional rail bridge spanning Crum Creek in Nether Providence Township has started with the construction of an access road off Rodgers Lane. The current steel viaduct which connects the Nether Providence and Swarthmore legs of the Media-Elwyn line was built in built in 1895 and has been deemed to be beyond it’s useful life.

The $89.9 million replacement project’s 1st phase which will last until Spring 2016 involves the building of temporary access roads and new concrete footings, piers and abutments for the span. Rail service across the bridge will not be interrupted during this period.

During stage 2 of work, in the summer of 2016, new girders, the deck and catenary towers and new tracks will be installed. No service will be available on that section of the line for a 10-week period, with bus service provided between Nether Providence and Swarthmore instead.

The third and final stage, from the fall of 2016 through the spring of 2017, will entail the removal of the existing bridge and towers, as well as access roads, followed by site restoration and landscaping.

Nether Providence Township Mulch Delivery Available

Are you looking to get your flower beds in shape for the Spring? Mulch is now available for delivery by Nether Providence Township. Deliveries are available in a full truckload of approximately 5 to 6 yards for $105, and a half truckload size for $65.

Deliveries will be on Thursdays and Fridays and orders and must be made in person at the Township Building at 214 Sykes Lane from 9:00 AM to 5 PM. For additional information call the Township office at 610-566-4516.

Wallingford PA Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday March 28, 2015

Kids Will Be Searching For 3,000 Eggs At The Hunt

Wallingford Presbyterian Church will host it’s 7th annual Easter Eggstravaganza rain or shine on Saturday March 28, 2015. Registration will be from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM followed by Easter songs. Participants will then be divided into age appropriate groups and set off to hunt for the 3,000 Easter eggs will be awaiting discovery on the Church property.

Following the hunt there will be a pancake and sausage brunch. There is no cost for the event, but a free will offering will be accepted. Bring the kids, grandkids, your neighbor’s kids – just bring some kids to enjoy this popular community event.

Granite Run Mall Demolition Slated For Fall 2015

BET Investments whose plans are to redevelop the Granite Run Mall site as an upscale town center with residential, retail, restaurant and entertainment components plans to begin demolition of the distressed retail center in the fall of 2015. The mall’s anchor stores Boscov’s and Sears will remain. The initial phase of development that has been postponed twice, would be the mall teardown and construction of a high-end, 175-unit apartment building on the former Chi-Chi’s restaurant site fronting Route 352. A second four-story apartment building is targeted for land abutting Oriole Avenue, near the current site of an AMC movie theater. Construction of the second apartment building will not start until the first apartment building is leased at a threshold satisfactory to Middletown Council.
