The Thomas Leiper House will be hosting it’s annual Colonial Christmas Open House at the Leiper House located at 521 Avondale Road in Wallingford PA on Sunday December 17, 2017 from 1 PM until 5 PM. Rooms in the 1785 home of Thomas Leiper will be decorated for the holidays.

Visitors can also enjoy cake and refreshments to celebrate the birthday of Thomas Leiper who was born in Strathaven, Sctotland on December 15, 1745.

Realtor.com® researchers found that Austin, Texas has posted the largest increases in home prices – 63% – over the past 10 years.

In 2006 the average selling price for Wallingford was $302,059. For the first 10 months of 2017 the average selling price was $348,670 – a 15.4% increase.

Unwanted E-Waste Will Be Collected At The Recycling Event

Nether Providence Township and Media Borough are sponsoring an electronic recycling and shredding event on Saturday November 18, 2017 from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Acme parking lot located at 527 East Baltimore Pike, Media, PA.

E-Waste: Recycle almost anything with a plug for free! Old-style TV’s and CRT monitors do require a $30 disposal fee.

Shredding: documents with sensitive information that need to be shredded in a safe, secure, and environmentally friendly method on site. No CDs, or DVDs.

E-Recycling service is provided by PAR RECYCLE WORKS – a local nonprofit that sells reusable materials collected from electronic devices to help pay for salaries and job skill development for formerly incarcerated men and women, in order to support their productive re-entry back into society. Home prices have been accelerating faster than general inflation. So, should the housing market be worried about a housing bubble brewing? Urban Institute researchers say there’s no cause for concern, at least on a national level.

Over the past five years, home prices have outpaced inflation by 34% cumulatively since 2012, according to UI. The increase, however, is less than half the pace between 1997 and 2006. In that time period, home price growth outpaced inflation by 87%.

The median household can afford a house that is $70,000 more expensive than the price of a median house sold, the Urban Institute says. But in 2006, there was a $22,000 shortfall between what the median household could afford and the median sales price.

Furness And Swarthmore Libraries Sponsor 5K Run – April 1, 2017

Helen Kate Furness Library and Swarthmore Library invite you to the inaugural 5K Walk/Run to celebrate our libraries and communities. Registration will be open at 8:00 AM on race day, Saturday, April 1st. The point to point course starts at Wallingford train station at 9:00 AM and ends at Swarthmore Library. There will activities for families at Central Park in Swarthmore including face painting, music by Allison DeSalvo, and an awards ceremony. This is a fun event for the whole family! The first 125 5K walkers and runners to register are guaranteed a t-shirt! All registered runners and walkers will be entered into a drawing to win a Complimentary One Night Stay (including Breakfast for two) at the Inn At Swarthmore and a $100 Gift Certificate to the Broad Table Tavern.
