Shred And Fed – Free Paper Shredding Event – April 21, 2018

On Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 2 -4 PM, Wallingford Presbyterian Church located at 110 East Brookhaven Road in Wallingford will be sponsoring a “Shred and Fed” event in the church parking lot. This event is free and open to the public – no businesses please. Bring your unwanted paper items to be shredded in a highly secure, mobile shredding unit operated by professionals from Docuvault Delaware Valley while you watch. Please bring paper only. Plastic bags, metal, binders, binder clips, spiral notebooks, credit cards, computer hard drives, wood, and other materials cannot be shredded. Paper clips and staples are acceptable.

While the event is free participants are asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food items for local food banks at Chester Eastside and City Team. Alternatively, you can make a monetary donation to these local food banks that provide much-needed support to our neighbors in Chester.

Furness And Swarthmore Libraries 5K Book It! Walk/Run – Saturday April 7, 2018

Helen Kate Furness Library and Swarthmore Libraries invite you to participate in their second 5K Walk/Run to celebrate our local libraries and communities on Saturday April 7, 2018. Race day registration opens at 8:00 AM.

The point to point course starts at Wallingford train station at 9:30 AM and ends at Swarthmore Library. There will activities for families at Central Park in Swarthmore and an awards ceremony after the race. This is a fun event for the whole family! The first 125 5K walkers and runners to register are guaranteed a t-shirt.

All pre-registered runners and walkers will be entered in a raffle to win an overnight stay at The Inn at Swarthmore and breakfast for two at the Broad Table Tavern, (retail value: $450). There will be awards for the top runner in each age group, male and female, as well as top prizes for the fastest male and fastest female runners. Age groups: under 11, 11-19, 20-39, 40-59, 60+

Wallingford Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday March 24, 2018

Wallingford Presbyterian Church will host it’s 10th Annual Easter Egg-stravaganza with more than 3,000 eggs on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 AM. Registration opens at 9:30 AM in the Reception Room followed by a sing along and a brief introduction from Pastor Taylor followed by the hunt.

Egg hunters will be grouped by age to make sure that everyone has a chance to find their share of eggs. After the hunt, there will be a brunch of hotcakes and sausage. There is no charge for this event, but a free-will offering will be accepted.

To facilitate the division of eggs equitably and prepare enough food, you are asked to register for the event online.

Colonial Christmas At The Thomas Leiper House

The Thomas Leiper House will be hosting it’s annual Colonial Christmas Open House at the Leiper House located at 521 Avondale Road in Wallingford PA on Sunday December 17, 2017 from 1 PM until 5 PM. Rooms in the 1785 home of Thomas Leiper will be decorated for the holidays.

Visitors can also enjoy cake and refreshments to celebrate the birthday of Thomas Leiper who was born in Strathaven, Sctotland on December 15, 1745.

E-Waste And Shredding Event – Saturday November 18, 2017 – Media Acme Parking Lot

Unwanted E-Waste Will Be Collected At The Recycling Event

Nether Providence Township and Media Borough are sponsoring an electronic recycling and shredding event on Saturday November 18, 2017 from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Acme parking lot located at 527 East Baltimore Pike, Media, PA.

E-Waste: Recycle almost anything with a plug for free! Old-style TV’s and CRT monitors do require a $30 disposal fee.

Shredding: documents with sensitive information that need to be shredded in a safe, secure, and environmentally friendly method on site. No CDs, or DVDs.

E-Recycling service is provided by PAR RECYCLE WORKS – a local nonprofit that sells reusable materials collected from electronic devices to help pay for salaries and job skill development for formerly incarcerated men and women, in order to support their productive re-entry back into society. Because of environmental issues that make safe disposal expensive, we require a $30 fee per unit for the following items:

Air conditioners and large appliances will not be accepted.
